Notre premier jour à Buenos Aires a été formidable! (Sauf que c’est l’hiver donc il fait froid…😓) Quand on est arrivé nous sommes allés à la maison de Yannick ( la photo au dessus ), c’est une très belle maison avec une terrasse sur le toit. Après avoir posé nos affaires nous sommes allés prendre un très bon petit déjeuner (pâtisseries argentines). Ensuite nous avons visité notre quartier, Palermo. C’est-à-dire un jardin botanique et nous avons marché dans les rues pour voir quel restaurant allait nous plaire pour les quelques jours à suivre. Après cette promenade nous sommes rentrés pour faire une sieste mais moi j’ai lu mon livre… Puis nous sommes ressortis pour nous promener encore une fois et faire des courses pour un apéro familial pour fêter tout ça!

After so much planning and projecting, here we are finally in Buenos Aires. We were lucky to have the sun upon our arrival, but because it is winter here, it was only 45 F° this morning. Alexis exited the airport in his t-shirt and the taxi driver couldn’t help but note to him « hace frio » (« it is cold »). Yannick’s apartment is beautiful and in a great part of town. We feel so fortunate to start our tour in such style (Merci Yannick!). Buenos Aires is both modern and run down and I have never seen such an eclectic smattering of architecture in one city. Looking forward to investigating further tomorrow. But first, we are going to Don Julio for dinner…apparently some of the best Asado in town!

Before arriving, I thought that Buenos aires was a very developed and well kept city, I was wrong. The sidewalks are eroded and are filled with holes, cars honk and the architecture isn’t constant. It seems like a third world country when you try to buy a subway card (carta sube) or try to take out money.  On the bright side, the breakfast today was amazing, the people are extremely nice and Yannick’s apartment is awesome. On top of all these good things, we had excellent dinner at Don Julio’s with the biggest T-bone I have ever seen. It was so tender and juicy!

Arrivée chez Yannick. La  ville compte beaucoup de ces R12 d’un autre âge (mes parents avaient la même en bleu).

Première expérience culinaire de notre voyage, les fameuses pâtisseries argentines, avalées goulûment avec un café con leche pour faire passer tout ça.
