Jour 3 / Day 3

Alexis

Today, we walked through the city all the way to the Recoleta cemetary which was very big and a little bit gloomy. I was surprised to see that most of the coffins were not buried but on display! After that, we took a taxi to the Barolo which is a 100m tall building, first skyscraper in South America, where we took a tour with a great guide who explaned everything about this unique building. We then climbed to the top through a tiny staircase and found that it was a light house. (See pictures above) There was a great view although the clouds quickly engulfed us.

Another interesting day of visits in BA. We walked from Palermo to La Recoleta where we toured the famous cemetary where Evita is buried. We then visited the Barolo building which was fascinating in terms of both architecture and history. The highlight of the day nonetheless was going out with Alexis’ cousin Marthe and her Argentinian boyfriend Alfredo. They took us to La Brigada, a delicious and authentic Parilla (restaurant specialised in meat)–see Alexis’ post for more detail–and then to a bar/dancehall in a part of town we would have never discovered on our own. Goes to show that the best way to see a city, and especially one like BA, is with locals! Gracias Marthe y Alfredo.
