Jour 8 / Day 8

Sasha

Nous sommes arrivés à Salta. Je n’aime pas trop à cause du changement de température, parce qu’ici il fait super froid. 😩  Mais sinon nous avons marché dans le quartier à coté de notre « hotel ».

We flew from Iguazu to Salta today leaving the sunny, warm tropical climate and arriving in a cold, grey bustling town. As we drove into Salta by taxi, the city’s charm was not immediately apparent. The downtown area however has many colonial style buildings which are quite beautiful in a baroque kitsch kind of way. We are staying at our first youth hostel, which I personally think is quite cool. It is in a pretty old house in the center of town, but definitely lacks the luxury of our two former residences. The building is a disrepair and the rooms could use a major paint job. Sadly, the kids have not recognized the charm of our lodging and have not fallen for the town yet. We even had our first meltdown today of « I hate this trip…I just want to be in Boston. » I knew this would happen, but not necessarily within the first 8 days!

Le ministère de l’éducation, plutôt fun!

Un gisant en cire très réaliste dans l’église San Francisco, moins fun.

Sam

At our arrival in Salta, we discovered our rooms which were cool but needed a paint job and were freezing. The architecture in Salta is very interesting and I prefer it to Buenos Aires. It was much colder than Iguazu.😭
