While Alexis went to pick up the rental car, I went in search of cash. It has been quite difficult to procure pesos here. One can only take out a small amount from the ATMs and the banks have huge lines of Argentinians out the doors day and night. So, I went to the plaza to try the « blue market », which is basically exchanging dollars for pesos with some random guy on the street. I must admit that as I walked back to the hotel with a large wad of cash in my pocket, my heart was racing and I kept looking behind me to see who might be the mugger hot on my tail. Next time I’ll make sure to go with Alexis as my bodyguard. 

We then headed out for a four hour drive through the Quebrada de calchaquies to Cafayate. It was absolutely spectacular!

After having breakfast, we started our four houre drive to Cafayate. The drive was breathtaking. We saw the canyons and the mountains from an interesting perspective. The colors where incredible with the red, green, blue, yellow and many others. For at one point we stopped to admire the view and my dad starting to drive off without me whilst the car door was open. At first I thought it was a joke but then I realized that he didn’t know I was still out. Eventually he stopped but the whole thing was quite funny. We stopped at the anfiteatro which is a type of opening in the red rock.

Nous nous sommes arrêtés pour déjeuner dans un petit endroit au bord de la route avec des lamas (comme vous pouvez le voir dans le text de mes parents) mais pour moi le truc le plus chou c’était ce petit chien adorable 😍 j’ai fais croire à mes parents que je l’avais kidnappé et qu’il était dans mon manteau

Ce sympathique lama me souhaite bonne chance pour la demi finale de l’euro… Nous arrivons à temps à Cafayate pour voir le match dans un bar avec quelques français backpackers très sympas qui font le tour de l’Amerique du sud pendant un an (et qui connaissent Vivastreet donc forcément des gens bien :-). Une fois rassurés par la victoire française, nous discutons presque deux heures. Quelques histoires et conseils plus loin, Sam et Sasha sont bien séduits par l’idée de faire ce type d’expérience après leur bac…
