Jour 17 – 14 juillet / Day 17 – July 14

Sam

On the 14th of July, we left Tilcara after breakfast being rushed by my Dad even though we had plenty of time and were in no hurry. He always seems to be rushed for no apparent reason. During our drive back down to Salta, we saw some more amazing scenery and after having missed the exit to route 9, the beautiful forest mountain road on which we had driven up, we took the highway, which was the quickest way but the ugliest too. Scattered all over the side of the highway were dead dogs lying on the sand, left behind in a cloud of dust. We were later stopped by a policeman at a checkpoint between the regions of Jujuy and Salta who took quite a long time looking through our passports, just to make us nervous I think. Once we arrived in Salta, we drove right through to the apparently rich suburb of Salta called San Lorenzo. There, we ventured through the national park on foot which was amazing! It was a forest full of tall trees from which tropical vines hung. A brook flowed peacefully down the middle, the water crystal clear. Once back at the youth hostel in Salta, it felt like we were back home. We knew the people, the rooms and were already logged into the wifi. 😂 Weirdly during dinner back at « La Casona del Molino » we ran into the French couple with whom we had watched the France vs Germany match. How unexpected! They are also going to Bolivia later on so it would be crazy to cross paths with them again.

Pas rancunier, je publie une photo avantageuse de mon fils qui fait l’Apollon sur un rocher (sans apparente raison).
