Journée tranquille. Il faut dire que nous réveillons les enfants à 11h durant ces 3 jours à Cusco, en préparation de nos 5 jours de trek où nous nous lèverons aux aurores. Donc pour nous les matinées, c’est lecture, blog et un peu de JO à la télé.

Nous partons néanmoins explorer l’avenue del Sol, puis remontons sur le grand marché de San Pedro, qui mélange produits alimentaires et touristiques. Pas le plus beau que nous ayons vu durant ce voyage mais toujours intéressant. D’autant plus que nous y déjeunons (pas les enfants qui viennent de prendre leur petit dej), chez mama Naty.

Un poulet panné accompagné de riz, frites et haricots (3 féculents c’est le minimum quand même) pour moi, et tallarines (spaghetti) con pollo pour Wendy. Parfait mais portions gigantesques!

Ça ce sont les piments.

Nous faisons le tour de quelques boutiques d’habillement en laine d’Alpaca et le soir nous mangeons dans une chifa, restaurant sino-peruvien, Kion. Très bon et les enfants sont contents de varier un peu… Ils veulent même y retourner demain (contre mes principes mais bon, on verra).

Not much on the program today as we have decided to take it easy in Cuzco before our five-day trek. We woke the kids at 11am and after they had breakfast, we walked around the city headed towards the market. Though less impressive, organised and/or replete with fruit/veg etc., the market was interesting and had a vast number of food stalls with mainly local diners. Alexis and I had lunch at one of them. My tallerines (pasta) was served atop French fries and Alexis breaded chicken cutlet with fries, rice and beans! They sure do love their starches here. 

After, we went to a few of the ‘baby alpaca’ clothing stores where I saw the most expensive scarf I have ever encountered, a $1000 winter scarf made out of vicuna fur. I decided not to get it though because it didn’t go with my jacket 😜. 

We had supper at Kion, which is a « chifa » or a Peruvian/Chinese fusion restaurant. Not only was the decor great, but the food was excellent too. After seven-weeks of virutally pure South American cuisine, we all enjoyed the culinary change of pace!
